3 signs your soffits and fascias need replacing

Proper care and maintenance are vital in order to preserve your soffits and fascias and keep your home in good condition. However, how can you tell that your fascias and soffits need repairing or replacing?

1. Peeling paint

If you still have wooden fascias and notice they have started to peel or flake, this is a sign that the wood underneath them has swollen. Most commonly caused by damp, you'll need to check for bubbles in the paint as well. We recommend replacing these with PVC-u, eliminating the risk of the timber ‘sweating’ and eventually rotting.

2. Holes or strange sounds

If you hear noises coming from your roof or you find nests or droppings in your attic/loft, you may have holes in your fascias and soffits. Pest infestations can cause expensive damage to the roof and structure of your home, so you will need to replace them swiftly.

3. Leaky gutters

A leaking gutter is often blamed on blockages. While this is usually the case, a leak can also indicate that your fascia is wearing out or has become damaged. Clearing out your guttering regularly is important, but make sure you're conducting regular inspections of your fascias and soffits too to spot any signs of wear and tear before more costly damage occurs.
